Manzano (Georgeson Family) Collection
Description
Collection contains 147 photographs and 5 textual records pertaining to the Georgeson family and life on Saturna Island. Arriving in 1889, James and Joan Georgeson were the first light keepers at East Point. The job officially passed to their son Peter in 1921, and subsequently to Peter's brother Henry, who ran the light station from 1939 to 1940.
Major themes of this collection include Georgeson family portraits, early life on Saturna, and children growing up on the island.
We're grateful to Gloria Manzano, James and Joan Georgeson's great-granddaughter, for donating these items to the Saturna Heritage Centre in 2014.
In 2015, 31 additional items were added to this collection including 4 textual records. We are grateful to Gloria Manzano for collecting these images and lending them to the Saturna Island Heritage Archive in 2015.
